Legislative Update Week of February 14th
2010 Legislative Session
Wednesday February 17th the House voted Ought to Pass on HB 1131 relative to requirements of fire fighter certification. The bill moves to the Senate where the hearing will be held March 2nd.
The House Session day also included an ITL vote on HB 1135 requiring fire standards and training commission to perform self reviews. HB 1645, relative to freedom of choice to join a labor union (aka right to work) was also killed on the house floor. HB 1522, relative to local spending caps, has been postponed until the next house session when the full body will vote on the committees recommendation on ITL.
Key:
OTP= Ought to Pass
OTP/A = Ought to Pass w/ Amendment
ITL = Inexpedient to Legislate aka “Kill”
Upcoming legislative action this week:
None! This week is the legislative break and there will be no legislative action. We’ll be back in full swing the week of February 28th. If you or your members have any questions about this weeks bills or any other legislative action please don’t hesitate to contact me.
A special note of thanks to all of those who helped Jeff Goley during is campaign for State Senate. Although we didn’t get the result we wanted, Jeff worked hard and ran a great campaign. It was great to see so many members get involved in working for Jeff.
