Legislative Update Week of February 7th

2010 Legislative Session

Earnable Compensation Bill is Dead!

Wednesday February 10th the House voted to ITL HB 1530 which would have changed the definition of earnable compensation to only the rate of base pay. The house vote was 180-162.

In addition, all House sponsored retirement bills were voted on at this weeks House Session. All of the committee reports were upheld and we no longer have to worry about them this year!!

HB 1530: relative to earnable compensation for members of the NHRS ITL HB 1576: relative to certain retirement system beneficiaries receiving a retirement allowance while in active service Refer for Interim Study HB 1682: relative to the methodology for determining retirement system contributions rates ITL

Other good news came from the House committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety who voted 17-0 to approve HB 1131, which requires that New Hampshire fire fighter certification meets nationally accepted standards. This bill was placed on the consent calendar, meaning it will be voted on with all other unanimous bills with one voice vote as the first vote of the session day on February 17th.
