Legislative Update Week of January 31st

2010 Legislative Session

Subcommittee on HB1131 relative to firefighter certification completed

On Tuesday a House subcommittee voted 4-0 to support HB 1131, which requires that New Hampshire firefighter certification meets nationally accepted standards. The bill now moves to the full committee executive session on Tuesday, February 9th.

In other subcommittee work HB 1137, relative to the withholding of wages was amended to more accurately reflect the sponsor¹s intention. The committee added specific language to allow certain deductions for legal services and identity theft monitoring. The original version of the bill would have required the employer and employee to ³mutually agree² on deductions such as union dues and PAC contributions.
